10/17/10 - Guidelines Update
Hello Creative Writers,
We would like to bring to your attention a series of guideline reminders, the addition of sub-headings, and a change to the number of articles accepted.
Guidelines Reminders
Some recent article submissions have been not been up to the standards we ask for. We ask all writers to please remember the following prior to submitting an article:
- Check for spelling and grammatical errors. For writers that had issues with spelling/ grammar, you have been notified. If this issue recurs, your compensation will be reduced accordingly. If it continues to recur, your account will be suspended.
- Word document submission: please submit your articles in Word document (DOC, DOCX) or compatible format (ODT or PDF), not in a text file or within the submission page body.
- Submit only one article at a time. Don't submit "two articles in one." And please make sure your article topic matches the topic that was initially approved.
Headings and Sub-Headings
Going forward, we ask that all writers please add headings and sub-headings to their articles. This helps break up the article for readers and makes it easier for them to pinpoint sections of interest. The headings and sub-headings will also increase your word count a bit so you will be compensated accordingly.
For an example of an article that has effectively been divided up into sections using sub-headings, see the article Orangutans, by Amy Brannan, one of our top creative writers.
Article Limits Updated
Effective 10/18/10, we are no longer restricting article submissions to 1/day, but instead to 5/ week. Your article count resets on the Monday you are paid. You'll note the "article limits" sidebar at right has been updated to reflect this. Why this change? We're not staffed to approve/ publish articles on weekends, and weren't anticipating weekend article submissions. At the same time, we see that the 1/day restriction is hampering writers that prefer on submitting articles in a batch, so we've lifted the daily restriction and are changing it to weekly instead. Please remember that if you submit articles in a batch, submit them one at a time, with a separate document for each.
